Our Service

Pastoral Ministry

Parish life, the sacraments and the ordinary, patient care of the people entrusted to us.

Most Marists spend part of their lives in parish ministry. It is where the Church is most visible and most ordinary: Sunday Mass, baptisms, marriages, funerals, the long work of accompanying families through everything life brings them.

How we work in a parish

We try not to arrive with a programme. The first task is to listen — to the catechists who have held the community together, to the small Christian communities, to the people who have stopped coming and to those who never started. Only then does it become clear what this particular parish needs.

Marist parishes place a strong emphasis on lay leadership. Our aim is that the life of the parish does not depend on the priest who happens to be there, and that when we are moved elsewhere the community continues without interruption.

Vocations

Is God calling you to a life of service and mission?

Every Marist vocation begins with a quiet question. If that question is alive in you, we would be glad to walk with you as you listen for the answer.
