Our Service

Missionary Service

Going where the Church asks, including places where the Gospel is newly heard.

The Society of Mary was missionary from its first years, when confrères were sent to Oceania knowing they would probably not return. That willingness to be sent is still part of what it means to be a Marist.

Mission today

In practice it means serving in remote districts, learning local languages, accepting assignments far from home, and handing over work to local clergy and lay leadership as soon as they are ready to carry it.

African Marists are now themselves missionaries, sent within the continent and beyond it.

Vocations

Is God calling you to a life of service and mission?

Every Marist vocation begins with a quiet question. If that question is alive in you, we would be glad to walk with you as you listen for the answer.
